From 10:00 pm today, Wednesday, December 9, and until 4:00 am tomorrow, Thursday, December 10, both mouths of the Oriente Tunnel will be closed, which connects this subregion with the Aburrá Valley.
The connection closure is due to maintenance work on the fire system, in accordance with the annual reviews of the international technical standard corresponding to NFPA 25, which provides for the inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems .
The works have been carried out since the beginning of the month, without affecting mobility in the area. However, the Government of Antioquia reported that a total closure is required, for 6 hours, to carry out the functioning tests of the hydraulic network, review of hydrants, cabinets and hoses that make up the extinguishing system inside the tunnels .
Alternative roads are suggested, such as the Palmas – Las Palmas Variant, Santa Elena, the Medellín – Bogotá highway, and the Las Palmas – La Fe highway.
These maintenance tasks will run until December 17, they also include system and equipment inspections, general cleaning, functional tests and some standard maintenance tasks in pump rooms, operations control centers, hydrants, networks, regulation system and of valves.
