After six months of inactivity as a result of the pandemic, football returned this Tuesday in Colombia, with the first leg of the Superliga between Junior and América de Cali in Barranquilla, which resulted in an important 1-2 victory for the team scarlet.

Due to remodeling works in the gigantic Metropolitan, the contest was held in the modern Romelio Martínez, who without an audience in the stands let each play of a commitment of emotional actions be heard in a large part of it.

He was just starting the game when Junior went ahead. The referee Andrés Rojas did not give a previous foul by Carmelo Valencia on Luis Alejandro Paz, the ball was left to ‘Teo’ Gutiérrez, who saw the arrival of Miguel Ángel Borja to the area, enabled him, Éder Chaux went to the bottom, touched him with his hands and the maximum penalty decreed by the same attacker ‘shark’ for 1-0, at 4 minutes.

He had better possession, although his arrivals were not deep, because Sebastián Viera did little work. The plays were woven well, but the final stitch was missing because Ramos, Arias and Vergara received the ball in position to gain an advantage against the rojiblanca defense.

At 22, Didier Moreno made a mistake in a return back, Adrián Ramos received the ball, but was knocked down by Germán Mera, who received the red card because he cut off an obvious goal option. The charge was Ramos, who finished off powerless, and Viera stopped the ball on the left post.

Duván Vergara, who had little gravitation, was encouraged with an inward hitch and took a creeping shot that passed by kissing the base of Viera’s left vertical, in the 41st minute.

The last minutes of the first half favored the visitors, who arrived quite a bit on the side of Edwin Velasco, and at the close, Daniel Quiñones almost finished off in the local goal. A failure by Viera when trying to punch in a corner kick could also give the ‘devils’ the tie.

For the second half, Yesus Cabrera entered for Daniel Quiñones, with which Juan Cruz Real implemented three defenders, with Luis Alejandro Paz a little more aware of that line. Once again the possession of the ball was the common denominator in favor of the reds, to the point that Julio Comesaña took out his trusted attackers, ‘Teo’ and Borja, to give way to two extremes like Jesús Murillo and Edwin Cetré to balance the charges through the speed of them.

For a few seconds, the Romelio Martínez stadium was left without lighting, but they quickly turned on the alternate plant and the game could continue as normal.

Rafael Carrascal tried with a mid-distance shot at 26, but again the ball went wide. It was of little use for America to have control of the ball because it lacked weight in attack and was too static in its forward positions, as if it missed Michael Rangel, who was not even taken into account on the bench.

At 35, Juan David Pérez recovered the ball and handed it to Santiago Moreno who put the center into the small area, where Gabriel Fuentes touched the ball under pressure from Adrián Ramos and beat his own goalkeeper, for 1-1.

A minute later, Duván Vergara decreed the 1-2, after managing an individual play entering the area, he finished off and the ball hit Willer Ditta’s leg to overcome Viera again. There were two own goals, but Cruz Real’s strategy was working better than Comesaña’s.

Ramos again had a propitious option to increase the account in the time of addition, but he raised his left foot shot. However, the triumph of the Colombian champion was just as seen on the field.

Next Friday (7:00 pm) this duel will be repeated, with América at home at Pascual Guerrero.
