The Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday 8,692 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia, which brought the number of people who have been infected to 1,108,084, as well as the death of 166 patients, which now represents 32,013 victims fatalities from the pandemic in the country.
According to the health authority, of the deaths reported on the day, 141 correspond to previous days.
The highest numbers of deaths were in Bogotá (33), followed by the departments of Antioquia (24), Santander (13), Tolima (12) and Caldas (11).
The rest occurred in Huila and Valle del Cauca (10); Goal (7); Quindío (6); Boyacá (5); Cauca, Cundinamarca and Norte de Santander (4); Bolívar, Atlántico, La Guajira and Risaralda (3); Amazonas, Cesar, Córdoba and Nariño (2), and Caquetá, Chocó and Sucre (1).
In the country there are still 71,357 active cases, corresponding to 6.43%, while today the number of recovered was 1,002,202 people, that is, 90.44% of the people who have contracted covid-19.
Regarding new cases, the biggest infections of the day were had in Antioquia (2,008), Bogotá (1,818), Valle del Cauca (678), Cesar (426), Santander (412), Caldas (366), Boyacá (333), Cundinamarca (309), Huila (279), Quindío (275), Tolima (267) and Norte de Santander (203).
During the day, 50,994 samples were processed, 33,561 of the PCR type and 17,433 of antigens, with which 5.21 million tests have already been carried out in the country.
The main focus of the pandemic continues to be Bogotá, with 327,660 infections, followed by Antioquia (176,354), Valle del Cauca (86,190), Atlántico (72,668), Santander (43,854), Cundinamarca (43,703), Bolívar (33,651), Córdoba ( 26,646), Cesar (26,833), Huila (24,375), Nariño (22,358) and Norte de Santander (22,243).
