The exponential growth of covid-19 cases led to everything the department of Antioquia to return to restrictive measures in mobility.

This is how there will be a peak and a cedula, in addition to a generalized curfew. The situation is not easy, according to the governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria.

“The most important thing is to renew the call to all Antioqueños and Antioqueñas to help us observe these measures with their discipline and use of masks, keeping their distance and all the necessary biosecurity protocols; in this way we will not have to prolong these measures, “said the president of the Antioquia.

For his part, the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, said that these measures are necessary: ​​”Christmas is not canceled, but it will be different. They are not measures that we like to take, but it is our duty, because not taking them would be irresponsible. Letting the curve simply advance as it goes could lead to a January and February that turn into dark months for the city and the country. For this reason, with the National and Departmental Government, a series of measures have been agreed that will allow us to save many lives, which is our most important objective at this time.

The cases

There are currently 7,084 active cases of covid-19 in the department, and in Medellín there are 3,579. They are followed by Rionegro (482), Bello (473), Envigado (431), Itagüí (361), Sabaneta (187), La Ceja (187), Copacabana (147), Marinilla (134), Caldas (134), Carmen de Viboral (93), La Estrella (86), Girardota (83), La Unión (60), El Retiro (59) and Guarne (49), among others.

Regarding the ICU beds in the department, among which are those destined for the care of patients with covid-19 and patients with other pathologies, Antioquia has a total of 1,250 beds. Of these there are, to date, 961 occupied as follows: 305 with covid patients, 123 suspected of having the virus and 533 who do not. This, according to the Government of Antioquia, means that the occupancy of ICU beds in the department today is 76.88 percent.

What will the curfew and the cedula be like?

Under this scenario, these are the measures you should take into account:

1. Antioquia will be on a hospital red alert from December 22 to January 4. This implies that medical and surgical interventions that are not a priority will be suspended.

2. There will be a curfew from December 22 to January 3 from 12 pm to 6:00 am in the sub-regions of the Aburrá Valley, East, Southwest and West.

3. The curfew will have a variation for Christmas and New Years. This will be continuous in the subregions of the Aburrá Valley, East, Southwest and West: from December 24 at 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on December 31, and from December 31 from 8:00 a.m. pm to January 2 at 6:00 am

4. The peak and card in Medellín will be from Tuesday, December 22 to December 31. On even days the even-numbered cards come out; the odd days, the odd cards.
The peak and cedula will also be applied in the same way in the rest of the Antioquia municipalities, as of Wednesday, December 23, although some will be from Tuesday 22.
It should be clarified that this measure is only to enter commercial establishments, it is not a mobility restriction.

5. In the Urabá, Bajo Cauca, Magdalena Medio, Northeast and North subregions, there will only be a curfew from Tuesday, December 22 to January 3, from 12 pm to 6:00 am; there will also be peak and cedula.

6. Visits to the Medellín street lights are suspended until the first week of January. This, before the crowds to enter to see them, especially in Parques del Río and in Parque Norte.
In other municipalities the lights will also be turned off, this will be decided by each mayor’s office.

Travel in the Metro, airports and terminals

1. At the North and South transport terminals, it is requested to arrive one hour in advance to the rooms, without escorts and in compliance with all the established biosafety protocols, for which we went from 55 to 115 duly equipped disinfection places. 2. It is recommended to arrive at least two hours in advance to the air terminal and carry the digital or printed boarding pass. Likewise, it is remembered that the mask must be worn at all times and in any place. The entry of companions is not allowed, except for minors and passengers who require assistance.

3. This will be the subway service: on Thursday, December 24, the service will be provided until 10:00 pm; On Thursday, December 31, the Metro network will operate until 9:00 pm, and on Friday, December 25, as well as January 1, the commercial service will begin at 5:30 am
