Animal abuse is a scourge that has begun to receive both legal sanctions and social reproaches only in recent years.

Unfortunately, Colombia is not a country alien to this problem. In fact, the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office created an elite unit to deal with these cases, known as the Special Group for the Fight against Animal Abuse (Gelma).
In recent days aberrant events have been known that have to do with exacerbated violence against different species. One of the last would have been registered in a Seine headquarters, in the municipality of Malambo, Atlántico.
Apparently, an official gave the order to drown some dogs, because they were allegedly behaving aggressively.

This case outraged the country and caused the Prosecutor’s Office to open an investigation to clarify the events.
Now, another act of abuse has gone viral on social media. A clip showing a boy under the age of ten abusing a pug dog was seen and shared by hundreds of thousands of people.
The recording would take place in the municipality of Rovira, in the eastern department of Tolima. There it is shown how the little one takes the leash off the animal and grabs it from the back. He cries with fear, because apparently he had already been mistreated on more than one occasion.

After holding him in his arms, the boy unreservedly throws him into an abyss in which, it can be seen, there are various debris. The animal turns in the air and screeches at the bottom of the abyss.
Meanwhile, a woman who accompanies the child, and who is also recording the video, tells him not to throw it again. “Tiago, don’t throw it away, he’s going to kill it. He’s already thrown it three times, daddy. Don’t you feel sorry for the dog? “warns the woman.
The canine appears later walking through the undergrowth. The voice of a girl says that the police are coming, to which the woman replies that it would be better if they came to take the animal away.

The clip has caused a wave of criticism both in Tolima and in the rest of the country. It even caused the governor of that department, Ricardo Orozco, to pronounce and express his rejection of this type of behavior.

“One does not understand or understand that this can happen in our society, I have just asked the Tolima Police Department the pertinent actions and the most drastic sanctions for this person who allows this ruthless action against this defenseless being in the Municipality of Rovira, all my rejection of animal abuse (sic), “the president wrote on his Facebook account, where he shared the video.

Shortly afterwards, it was learned that the authorities took over the case and managed to find the dog, as reported by the Prosecutor’s Office through Twitter. “In such events it is necessary that local civil authorities carry out care, prevention and education actions aimed at strengthening the human-animal bond”, recommended the entity.
