This Thursday, Anif confirmed his proposal for the debate on how much the minimum wage in Colombia should increase by 2021. This union is in favor of your change for the coming year is between 2% and 3%.

“We consider that the increase in the minimum wage should be between 2% and 3%. Beyond that value, the sustainability of the economic recovery would be put at risk, in particular the creation of formal employment, highly hit by the pandemic, ”Anif president Mauricio Santamaría told Caracol Radio.

If Anif’s proposal becomes a reality after the negotiations that will begin next week, the increase in the minimum wage would be between 17,556 pesos and 26,600 pesos. Taking into account that the base salary in the country is currently 877,803 pesos, in case it is modified in accordance with what the banking union requests, in 2021 it would be around 900,000 pesos.

The position of this union is very similar to that presented this week by Fedesarrollo, entity that is in favor of the minimum wage growing by only 2.5% for next year.

The proposals of both organizations are quite far from the aspirations of the workers’ centrals, who in recent weeks have assured that they are going to negotiations with the Government with the desire to achieve an increase of between 6% and 15%.

The schedule to define the increase for the coming year was set a few days ago. From Next Monday, November 30, workers’ centrals, businessmen and workers will meet.
