If on March 5, 2020, the young Ana María Castro had not received the forceful blows to her head and body, she would be celebrating her 22nd birthday with her family.

But Nidia Romero, mother of Ana María, had to go to vault 283 of the cemetery where her remains were, to sing to her ‘I will miss you’ and to bring her some lilies.

(We invite you to read: This is the statement by Mateo Reyes on the death of Ana María Castro)

I will miss you. That’s for sure. There were so many beautiful and bad moments
that we live together. The details, the little things. What seemed unimportant
They are the ones that invade my mind the most when I remember you. I wish I could go back in time
to see you again, to give you a hug and never let you go (…) But I understand that your time has come that God has called you to be by his side. So he wanted it
“says the song that sounds at Ana María’s grave when her mother visits her in tears.

In an interview with EL TIEMPO en Vivo, Ana María’s mother tells how she has not even been able to start the mourning for her daughter’s death and is committed to letting the truth be known.

She assured that the same Kia truck from which witnesses saw her daughter thrown, was several times at her house: “Paul was going to pick her up and he was courting her (…) but they were not dating (…) Ana María died loving her ex-boyfriend, “she says.

He also assured that the authorities are investigating the version that Ana María gave her sister about Mateo Reyes and the fact that he had some kind of connection with drugs. In this regard, Mateo told the prosecution that he only consumed beer, brandy and whiskey.

However, Ana María’s mother says she gave her several versions of what happened, including one in which she said they had been thrown from the Kia.

Paul Naranjo

Today the hearing of Paúl Naranjo was held in the case of the death of Ana María Castro.

Cell phone and compensation

Doña Nidia said that although her daughter’s passion was psychology (she studied a sementre at the Manuela Beltrán University), she dropped out in the first semester due to financial issues.

She began to study professional makeup and together with my son-in-law they told me that they were going to help me, because I am alone since Ana María’s father died 10 years ago”, Narrated Doña Nidia.

And he added that the young woman was talking about Paul Naranjo. However, he said that he never met him or the others involved: Julián Ortegón and Mateo Reyes.

“Know him, know him, no. Only that Ana María spoke to me about him, because like his older sister, it was not his custom to bring friends home, ”Nidia Romero said.

He also said that it is false that Ana María’s cell phone cost 6 million pesos, as Paul Naranjo’s defense said.

“I gave it to him so that we could communicate from iPhone to iPhone and it didn’t cost me what he said, in addition, I had insurance and I was able to acquire it that way. It’s in my name,” he explained. And he also insisted that it should be clarified because now Paul Naranjo admits that the device was left in the Kia and that it was later stolen.

Indeminization

He flatly ruled out that he wants to receive compensation for the death of his daughter, offered by the representatives of Paul Naranjo and that it would consist of 100 million pesos, as this newspaper revealed at the time.

“That would have been 5,000 million pesos. No. The life of a child is priceless. I just want justice to be done ”, emphasized Nidia Romero.

‘It was not an accident’

And she says that she is convinced that her daughter’s death was not due to an accident.

Nothing is going to give me back Ana María, what I do know is that the truth of what happened that night will give me the peace of mind to be able to start a duel”. Nidia Romero told EL TIEMPO en Vivo.

In addition, he assured that if the death of his daughter contributes to the consolidation of a legacy that protects women, he will be able to have a little peace. He also thanked the support expressed by all the authorities of the country, including the Office of the Prosecutor and the Vice President of the Republic.

They made disobedient comments and they will continue to do so, but I just know who my daughter was. She is not here to defend herself (…) if you are going to have a drink you are not going to pray, but she was a free woman, and she lacked experience to determine her friends, because clearly these people were not.”, Highlighted Ana María Castro’s mother, rejecting the comments made by the defenses of those involved.
