From a prison in Valle del Cauca, the defendant, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, became the intellectual author of the murder of the lawyer who provided public services to inmates without resources for their defense.
The crime caused consternation in the municipality of Puerto Tejada (Cauca). The sentenced today was not satisfied with the task carried out by the victim, in his judicial case.

On February 14, 2014, Hilda Miryam Lasso Largacha was resting at her home in the municipality of Puerto Tejada, bordering the north of Cauca with the south of the Valley. There she was shot by two young men who escaped on a bicycle.
Family and friends were in charge of transferring her to the local hospital, but she died in the emergency room. The Ombudsman’s Office rejected the crime and indicated that it had received threats for professional practice.

The lawyer Lasso was linked as a public defender and participated in the promotion of Human Rights in Cauca, in the municipality in question. In principle, it was argued that the crime was committed by gang members.
When detailing a line of investigation, defined in the process, the Prosecutor’s Office found that there was a relationship of the crime with one of the inmates or accused persons who were assisted as a public defender.

The follow-ups led to the fact that Jefferson Mina, deprived of liberty in the Palmira prison, was involved in the murder. A statement from the Prosecutor’s Office says that the probative material presented allowed a judge of knowledge to give sense of a conviction against the inmate as the intellectual author of the lawyer’s murder.
“The Prosecutor’s Office managed to demonstrate, in oral proceedings, that the sentenced today ordered, from prison, the death of the lawyer”says the report.
The investigative work carried out by personnel of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Cauca Section found that Mina would not be satisfied with the role played by the woman in her case.

In the hearing to read the meaning of the ruling, the judge condemned him as a determiner (mastermind), for the crime of aggravated homicide, as well as the crime of manufacturing, trafficking or carrying firearms, parts or ammunition. In the coming days a date will be set for the reading of the sentence.
