Álvaro Uribe’s statement about his freedom canceled

Since the night of this Saturday, the Democratic Center made it known to the media that Uribe Vélez was going to give a public statement about the decision of the judge 30 of guarantees of Bogotá, which granted him his immediate freedom.

The ex-president’s pronouncement was scheduled for 9:00 in the morning this Sunday, which was to be broadcast on a Facebook page and a YouTube page, of which they sent their respective links.

However, on the hour, the Democratic Center announced (in the following trill) that Uribe’s statement was canceled, without giving details of the reasons, and that it would be rescheduled for a date that has not yet been determined.

So far, the former senator has not given great statements about the decision that annulled his house arrest, ordered by the Supreme Court of Justice in the case of false witnesses, and that is why there was great expectation for the call.

Uribe barely celebrated in a discreet way through his Twitter, while Uribismo was much more euphoric in its pronouncements. Even followers of the leader of the ruling party called a caravan to celebrate the victory.

The release of the former president occurs because the judge considers that there can be no security measure without charges.

As the process of false witnesses, by which they accuse Uribe of bribing former paramilitaries so that they did not link him with the self-defense groups, changed the law, no judicial proceedings have been scheduled in this case, which now rests in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office.

However, the counterpart, specifically Senator Iván Cepeda – declared a victim of the false witnesses – announced that he was going to appeal the judge’s decision, even though he respects and abides by the determination.
