This Wednesday, former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez made his first statement after the Supreme Court transferred the process against him – for alleged bribery in criminal proceedings and procedural fraud – to the Prosecutor’s Office.
In a trill, the former senator wrote: “Freedom is an invaluable asset, but for me honor is the priority, hence the emphasis on evidence.”

This Wednesday, in addition, Uribe’s lawyers petitioned the Prosecutor’s Office to immediately remove his house arrest.
“Jaime Enrique Granados, identified as he appears at the bottom of my signature, in my capacity as defender of former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, I respectfully go to his Honorable Office in order to request the adaptation of the investigation to the procedure established by law 906 of 2004, as well as the immediate release of my son, “says the letter.
Since the former senator is in house arrest, another of his requests is that his process be public.
“The summary reserve exists in Colombian legislation, among other reasons to protect the principle of presumption of innocence contemplated in the Constitution. In the process against Álvaro Uribe, the reality is that for reasons unknown to the defense, the process has been selectively filtered with a dropper to public opinion, in a decontextualized way and emphasizing the evidence against and not the dozens of overwhelming evidence in favor, ”the statement issued a few weeks ago reads.
