Uribe specifically referred to the dialogue that ‘Caya’ Daza had with Juan Manuel Daza, today the representative of the Chamber for the Democratic Center, in which he complains that, apparently, Luis Guillermo ‘Luigi’ Echeverri – manager of the presidential campaign of Iván Duque— did not want to accept money that was offered to him in the regions, as can be heard in the following audio, broadcast by a journalist from Noticias Caracol.

In this regard, the former president said on Blu Radio that He felt sorry for President Duque because a member of his Legislative Work Unit (UTL), from when he was a senator, caused those problems that, according to him, have no reason to exist because the campaign was handled with total “transparency.”

“Those audios are uncomfortable, reckless, but they are not supported by facts. […] I was the first to assume the responsibility of saying that it was the voice of María Claudia Daza. ‘Luigi’ Echeverri made an absolutely transparent handling of campaign finances; vote buying has never happened, not to President Duque or to an old man like me. […] It hurts me to hear those audios and refer to how I had to refer to María Claudia Daza when I came to the conviction that it was her voice. […] That bothers a lot, I feel sorry for President Duque that someone from my UTL creates these problems“, He declared.

Uribe added in the interview that the director of the Democratic Center, Nubia Stella Martínez, who had a conversation with the former adviser to the former president about money for Duque’s campaign, handles the party’s finances with all honesty and that is verifiable.

Likewise, he asked Colombians that, even if they disagree with him, do not doubt the “honorability” of the current head of state’s campaign and assured that at no time did he have influence or interference in the management of the strategy and, in In any case, he made comments to Echeverri “with all due respect.”

Also ex-senator Uribe, leader of the ruling party, concluded by saying that Daza was not an influential woman in Uribe, despite the audios in which she split with senior officials of other party members.
