The request to close the process was filed with the Paloquemao Judicial Services Center and now a hearing judge will be assigned to summon the parties to a hearing.

The Prosecutor’s Office considered “after a comprehensive assessment of the material probative elements, the physical evidence and the information legally obtained during the course of the process” that several of the conducts for which the former president was legally linked do not have the character of a crime, and others that are, cannot be attributed as an author or participate.

The petition was filed hours before the expiration of the deadline for prosecutor Jaimes Durán to define whether to present the indictment or request the arrest.

The deadline had been set by the fourth judge of Bogotá who considered in November of last year that when the case was passed from the Supreme Court of Justice to the Prosecutor’s Office, after Uribe’s resignation from the Senate, the now former senator had remained as a defendant. .

At the hearing to which the parties will be summoned, the Prosecutor’s Office will explain their reasons and then the accredited victims, the Attorney General’s Office and the defense of the former president will be heard.

The request is just one step in the process that could even go to the Supreme Court of Justice.

This is because after the parties are heard, the judge will announce his decision that can be appealed and initially reach the Superior Court of Bogotá and then in cassation to the Court.

The Prosecutor’s Office asked to follow the preclusion hearing on the date established by the Judiciary “and to know in detail the arguments of the decision, to form its own criteria on a case that must be resolved in court, away from opinions, personal disputes and political interests “.
