The caveat is that no one divulge the information.
Although it is a contribution to the truth about one of the assassinations that marked the history of the country, the Special Jurisdiction of Peace (JEP) put the stamp of reserved to the interview that former senator Piedad Córdoba rendered on March 23, on what you say you know about the crime of Álvaro Gómez Hurtado.
She was the first to point out, in September 2020, that the FARC would have been the authors of the crime.
(We invite you to read: ‘Order to kill Álvaro Gómez was received by’ Carlos Lozada ‘from’ Jojoy ”).
And, coinciding with an investigation by EL TIEMPO, he added that whoever shot Gómez that November 2, 1995, is alive, contrary to what was said by today’s senator Julián Gallo, known in the Farc as’ Carlos Lozada ‘or’ Tornillo ‘.
EL TIEMPO obtained exclusively the version of Córdoba and established that when the JEP magistrate, Julieta Lemetre, asked him to give details of what he had, it went back to August 20, 2020.

He narrated that that day he received at his home in Medellín a couple who only identified themselves by name: “The appointment was granted through the intersection of my friend Héctor Moreno, a liberal leader of Santander, without having knowledge of the subject to be discussed and only referring to the fact that it was important news ”.
The deceased and the journalist
And he was quick to warn that Moreno, the intermediary, died last February from coronavirus and that she received the couple in her role as a journalist for Telesur.
“I never specified the origin of his contact (of Moreno) with the couple. Invoking my status as a journalist and asking for the protection of the source, they told me that they knew the truth about the death of Gómez Hurtado (…) I cannot attest to their identity, nor was it my responsibility to verify it at that time. They seemed to be more than 50 years old and, apparently, they did not live in Medellín nor did they have an Antioqueno accent, “he said.
(On the subject: The storm that the FARC unleashed due to the crime of Gómez Hurtado).
Piedad Córdoba said that the gunman assured her: “‘Carlos Lozada’ wants to kill me for this, but we are going to see who goes first, if he or I”
According to her, the man told her that he belonged to the Military Forces and that “he came from a conservative Laureanist family.”
For investigators of the case, the version is similar to the one that was known shortly after the assassination, through an alleged witness (Emilio 1), who was later disproved.
In any case, the former senator added that the man told her that a former infiltrator in the ranks of the Farc told him a key episode that occurred in the “La Escala” camp, in Yarí (Meta).
(Also: The favor that the mafia asked the FARC 2 days after the Gómez crime).
“On November 2, 1995, the ‘Mono Jojoy’ and Julián Gallo, known as ‘Carlos Lozada’, commander of the Antonio Nariño Urban Network in Bogotá (…) When the news of Gómez’s murder was known, ‘Jojoy’ congratulated Lozada because the unit he commanded had directed the action and they prepared to inform ‘Manuel Marulanda through the radio station (sic), ”he said.

And he pointed out that the reason for the murder was Gómez’s campaign against the so-called “independent republics” of the Farc.
The ambassador of Cuba summoned me to his house and told me that if I wanted to speak with ‘Catatumbo’ (…) I told him, see, I have no need to start inventing things about you
Samper and the gunman
“I can not certify if the story is real or the couple’s methods to access this information,” warned Córdoba. But he said that when expressing his surprise, the woman gave him the column of José Obdulio Gaviria in EL TIEMPO, of July 17, 2012, where he talks about the “black book of the Farc”, in which he talks about the assassination.
“I made a commitment to the couple to keep the appointment and their names confidential. I don’t even know if they are the real ones, ”he added.
(Also: Hard letters to the Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly stopping the Álvaro Gómez Hurtado case).
According to Córdoba, the couple knew that the Prosecutor’s Office was about to issue measures against Ernesto Samper, Horacio Serpa and Ramiro Bejarano: “They were going to put them in jail if I did not speak up,” said Córdoba.
And he admitted that he told Samper (his boss in liberalism) what the couple told him: “He told me that I was crazy. I told him: so charro, I’m telling him who it was, that they are going to nail them, and he thinks I’m crazy. Later, he confessed to me that he had called ‘Pablo Catatumbo’, who had been finding out, that Roux’s father also knew about the murder by the Farc ”.
And before the suspicions that his statement has aroused, due to his closeness to Samper, he added: “I’m not talking because Samper is my friend, because in reality he is not.”
(Also: JEP magistrate denies that he resigns for having defended Kiko Gómez).
When the magistrate asked her for more details about the meeting with the couple, she said that the man gave her to understand that within the FARC there were people from the military forces infiltrated: “What’s more, he said that Lozada, who is a senator, worked together. with them. I do not know if it’s true”.
‘He wants to kill me’
Córdoba also told the JEP that she met with the man who shot Gómez and is convincing him to speak up.
“I spoke with the guy who shot him, around two months ago (…) I strongly insisted that he tell the truth, that he speak with the JEP,” he said.
And he said that the gunman assured him: “‘Carlos Lozada’ wants to kill me for this, but we are going to see who goes first, if he or I.”
In addition, the murderer told him that the military wanted to kill Gómez but they went ahead: “It gave me the feeling that it was a fluke,” Córdoba said.
He also said that the murderer was saved from the so-called ‘Mondoñedo massacre’ and that he was demobilized. And he explained how he contacted her: “With a common friend, a very good friend of mine (…) It was like in November (…) As they told me they had been from the Farc, well I received it.” And he promised before the JEP to insist that he speak.

Cuba, ‘Márquez’ and ‘Santricht’
EL TIEMPO established that Córdoba also referred to an appointment at the Cuban embassy.
(Plus: The mighty weaponry in the photo of ‘Santrich’ and his gang)
“The ambassador summoned me to his house and told me if I wanted to speak with ‘Pablo Catatumbo’. That they wanted them to meet with me (…) I had already said what I had said. So we were at lunch, the guy was quite disrespectful to me (…) I also faced him. I told him, see, I have no need to start inventing things about you, ”said Córdoba.
And he said that ‘Catatumbo’ asked him for proof of what he said: “I told him, you are obliged to tell the truth and not let innocent people condemn you.
Some person would think that I knew and kept quiet because of the closeness I had with ‘Iván Márquez’ and with ‘Santrich’. But I wouldn’t have stayed silent for that (…) I was very close to them, I did help them a lot with things. Well, he even gave them money. And it seems so strange to me that they had told other people and not me, ”Córdoba said.
(On the subject: Jesús Bejarano’s call before the FARC killed him).
And he said that there is a fight in the Farc because supposedly “Carlos Lozada” would have stolen a piece of gold. And he added that they also told him that ‘Lozada’ “worked with military intelligence:” Several have told me, the one who shot and other people. “
Then he assured that alias ‘Fabián Ramírez’ was sitting with ‘Manuel Marulanda’ when they gave him the reason for the assassination and that he is willing to speak. In addition, that after publishing his version on networks, the main car of his security scheme suffered an attack and one of his children received threats.
While the JEP evaluates what Córdoba has said and tries to fill the gaps (of identities, circumstances and evidence), the Gómez family – which does not believe the version that the FARC were the perpetrators of the crime – left their protest, because the victims did not were present at the statement.
(See here all the articles of the Investigative Unit of EL TIEMPO).
The JEP attributed it to connectivity problems and said it would transfer the reserved version to them.
