Three schools in the city of Barranquilla are already conducting face-to-face classes under strict compliance with biosafety protocols, after the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla approved the alternation plans they presented.
The district secretary for Education, Bibiana Rincón, reported that four other educational institutions are in the approval process.
“We have already visited seven private schools and 2 kindergartens that have presented their alternation plans, of which we have approved three for this 2020 as calendar B. We have seen how children and young people are aware of the importance of self-care, adapting to this new normal to have a quality education ”, said the official.
The La Salle Barranquilla Institute, Marymount School Barranquilla (primary school) and the German School of Barranquilla are the three private institutions that have launched the alternation pilot plan.
These schools, along with those that are authorized, both students and teachers must comply with three key rules that are physical distancing, constant hand washing and permanent use of a mask.
Among the protocols that the institutions comply with at a general level are the marking of spaces, isolation within classrooms, disinfection points, restriction of unsafe spaces, ventilation in classrooms, control at the entrance and exit of the institution, among other specifications.
The official stressed that it is time to work as a team for the education of children and young people, taking into account that at home they do not have all the key tools for their learning. He recalled that official educational institutions, which have optimal and safe spaces and conditions, will return to face-to-face classes in 2021.
For her part, Giselle Ramos, rector of the La Salle Institute in Barranquilla, expressed her satisfaction because “all the personnel have turned their heads to elaborate the biosafety protocols, in such a way that we can provide safety to our families and ourselves. We are happy to have the support of the Mayor’s Office to be able to have students within the institution. It is important to be clear that not all students should come, but families who consider that their children can be in these spaces ”.
Within the reopening process, the team of the District Secretary of Education is conducting consultancies and accompaniments to all calendar A private schools that have expressed their interest in resuming face-to-face classes in 2021.
