The rumor of changes in the cabinet of President Iván Duque came true. Sources from the House of Nariño confirmed to EL TIEMPO that the Minister of the Interior, Alicia Arango, is leaving her post.

Arango will occupy an important diplomatic position in the Government of President Iván Duque, as the new representative of Colombia to the United Nations.

It has not yet been defined who will take office to replace Arango.
Arango is a business administrator and specialist in Public Management and Administrative Institutions, with more than 25 years of professional experience in the public sector in topics such as implementation, management, execution of public policies, and extensive experience in multilateral relations.
She was Minister of Labor, as well as head of debate for the ‘Iván Duque Presidente’ campaign and director of the Democratic Center between 2014 and 2015; She was the private secretary of former President Álvaro Uribe during his two administrations.

She also served as ambassador in the Permanent Mission of Colombia to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (2010-2013).
Additionally, she was director of the District Institute of Recreation and Sports of Bogotá (1999-2000), and director of the Cundinamarca Regional Institute of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (1992-1994).
