The Norwegian cyclist Alexander Kristoff (UAE Emirates) has donned the first leader’s jersey of the 107th edition of the Tour de France by winning this Saturday in his first stage, a day of 156 kilometers with start and finish in the city of Nice.
After a day spent in the water and marked by numerous falls, Kristoff prevailed in the arrival in Nice with a time of 3 hours, 46 minutes and 23 seconds, ahead of dans Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) and Dutch Cees Bol (Sunweb), second and third respectively.
The water, which accompanied the runners for a good part of the journey, and some twisty areas with marked descents, caused the falls of many cyclists, among which were some of the leaders of the ranks such as the French Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick Step), the Colombian Miguel ngel Lpez (Astana) or the French Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ).
The Tour de France will continue this Sunday with the dispute of its second stage, of 186 kilometers again with the city of Nice as the starting and finishing point.
