All a commotion on the Caribbean Coast has caused the announcement by some regional media that the former mayor of Barranquilla Alex Char will begin his presidential campaign on January 26.
According to the Twitter account BQ News, the member of the Char family will begin his path to the Presidency with a tour of La Guajira and among his possibilities would be “to participate in the inter-party consultation that the center-right parties are preparing”.
The same news had been released by the La Libertad newspaper, from Barranquilla, a few weeks ago. According to that medium, Char would be forming an “interdisciplinary team” with some people he trust to begin building his political platform by 2022.

The announcements, which so far have not been officially confirmed or denied, were taken to social networks, in which there are different comments about it.

As EL TIEMPO reported a few days ago, Alex Char is on the accounts of several center-right sectors for the realization of a popular consultation in which the candidate of the Democratic Center, the former mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, the head of the party of ‘the U’, Dilian Francisca Toro, and the current vice-president, Marta Lucía Ramírez, would also participate.

Char has also met with Simón Gaviria, son of the director of the Liberal Party, former president César Gaviria, according to what some liberal congressmen told this newspaper.
Although the information about Alex Char’s campaign has not been officially confirmed or denied, it would coincide with the calculations of various political sectors, which have mentioned his name as one of the possible contenders for the presidency next year.
It is still not clear if Alex Char will reach the first round, in May 2022, but what is certain is that the Char family will be the front-line protagonists of the next presidential election.
