Deportivo Alavés and Getafe did not go beyond the draw, 0-0, in a very open clash played in Mendizorroza, corresponding to the third day of the Spanish LaLiga, in which victory could fall for either team.
The Basques achieved their first point in three games and the Madrilenians the fourth in two duels played to date, after a stake in which both contenders eagerly sought the rival goal, they had chances, but failed to score against two good defenders, well positioned.
The duel began with a lot of rhythm and with several occasions for the two teams who practiced a very direct game in the first minutes, when the score could change several times.
The first came from Édgar Méndez after a good extension of the head by Brazilian Deyverson on Joselu Mato, who gave the ball to the Canarian winger, but was too entertained with the ball and could not finish in the front of the small area. Then it was Marc Cucurella who drove the ball down the left and was able to leave the ball behind for Cucho Hernández who shot wide.
The rhythm was devilish with much prominence for the attacking men of the two squads. Getafe proposed a defense very close to the dividing line and Alavés managed to break the offside on two clear occasions, like the one Deyverson had in the minute, which he could not overcome with a Vaseline on David Soria in a one-on-one.
After the first arrivals of the blue and white and azulones, those of José Bordalás, tried to complete longer attacks to break the 4-4-2 drawing, which was introduced for the first time from the start by Pablo Machín. In spite of everything, it was the locals who brought more danger to the Madrid goal.
The pressure of the Basques had an effect and they did not hesitate to give speed to their transitions, where speed prevailed over precision in a crash where Getafe could not find their place, lost the second plays and was overcome in a large part of the disputes aerial.
The important thing for those from Bordalás was that they did not lose their place and began to look into the domains of an insurance Fernando Pacheco who was very attentive and safe in three consecutive plays that ended with shots from Marc Cucurella, Jaime Mata and Cucho Hernández, whom the assistant successfully disallowed a goal.
On the edge of the break Joselu Mato had the best chance of the first half. In a Luis Rioja internship, the Sevillian connected with Édgar Méndez and the ball bounced off the Galician striker at the goal, but failed to push him.
The script did not change much after passing through changing rooms. Joselu continued to win head-to-head duels and lead the danger, while the entry of Turk Enes Unal offered more possibilities to the Getafe forward.
As the minutes passed, it was the Madrid squad that managed to hang more balls to the rival area, but they could not connect in conditions with those dangerous passes against a well-positioned local defense. But Alavés did not lose face to the game. Deyverson fought every ball and traveled miles with his teammate Joselu to keep up the pressure.
The second half served to make their debut this season two very important men for both teams, Manu García in the Basques and Ángel Rodríguez in the Madrid.
The final stretch of the stake was marked by the defensive nature of the two teams who did not want to risk 0-0 on the scoreboard, although it was Alavés who tried to find the imbalance in a very open final stretch.
