Christmas Eve The prayers, considerations and joys of this day
LDecember comes and with it the Novenas. At MARCA Claro we want to accompany you in these days of reflection. They are days of happiness to share with your family and friends and here we bring you the prayers to follow the steps easily.
The Novena of Strenna is a tradition that has been carried out for hundreds of years at Christmas time to gather as a family and friends in prayer and song. It is a custom that lasts the nine days before Christmas, with a prayer for each day that we show you below for this third day:
Jesus had been conceived in Nazareth, the domicile of Joseph and Mary, and it was there that he was believed to be born, according to all probabilities. But God had it arranged differently and the prophets had announced that the Mesas would be born in Bethlehem of Jude, city of David. In order for this prediction to be fulfilled, God used a means that did not seem to have any relation to this object, namely the order given by the Emperor Augustus, that all the subjects of the Roman Empire should be registered in the place from which they originated. Mary and Joseph, as descendants of David, were not excused from going to Bethlehem. Neither the situation of the Blessed Virgin, nor the need that Joseph was in for the daily work that ensured their subsistence, could exempt them from this long and arduous journey, in the most rigorous and uncomfortable season of the year.
Jesus is not ignorant of where he should be born and inspires his parents to surrender to Providence, and in this way unconsciously concur in the execution of designs. Inner souls, observe this handling of the Divine Child, because it is the most important of the spiritual life; learn that whoever has given himself to God no longer has to belong to himself, nor does he have to want at every moment but what God wants for him; blindly following him even in outward things, such as changing places wherever he pleases to lead him. You will have occasion to observe this inviolable dependence and fidelity in the whole life of Jesus Christ, and this is the point on which the saints and truly interior souls have taken pains to imitate him, absolutely renouncing their own will.
Most blessed God of infinite charity, who so loved men, that you gave them in your son the pledge of your love, so that, made man in the womb of a Virgin, he would be born in a manger for our health and medicine; I, on behalf of all mortals, give you infinite thanks for such a sovereign benefit. In return, I offer you the poverty, humility and other virtues of your humanized son, pleading with you for his divine merits, for the discomfort in which he was born and for the tender tears that he shed in the manger, that you dispose of our hearts with deep humility, with love on fire, with such contempt for all things earthly, so that the newborn Jesus may have his cradle in them and dwell forever. Amn. (Glory to the Father is prayed three times).
Sovereign Mara, because of your great virtues and especially because of your humility, you deserved that a whole God chose you as his mother, I beg you that you yourself prepare and dispose of my soul and that of all those who at this time made this novena, for the birth of your beloved son. Oh sweet mother !, communicate to me something of the deep recollection and divine tenderness with which you awaited him, so that you make us less unworthy to see him, love him and adore him for all eternity. Amn. (The Avemara is prayed three times).
O most holy Joseph, husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus! Infinite thanks I give to God because he chose you for such sovereign mysteries and adorned you with all the gifts provided to such excellent greatness. I beg you, for the love you had for the Divine Child, you embrace me in fervent desire to see him and receive him sacramentally, while in his divine essence I see him and I enjoy him in heaven. Amn. (An Our Father, a Hail and a Gloria are said).
Remember, oh sweet Child Jesus!, That you said to the venerable Margaret of the Blessed Sacrament, and in her person to all your devotees, these words so consoling for our poor overwhelmed and suffering humanity: “Everything you want to ask, ask for the merits. of my childhood and nothing will be denied you “. Filled with confidence in you, oh Jesus, that you are the same truth, we come to expose you all our misery. Help us to lead a holy life, to achieve a blissful eternity. Concede us for the infinite merits of your childhood, the grace of which we need so much. We entrust ourselves to you, O almighty Child, sure that we will not give up our hope frustrated, and that by virtue of your divine promise, you will welcome and send our plea favorably. Amn.
