Captain Andrés Mosquera of the Magdalena Medio Traffic Section confirmed the accident between a tractor-trailer and an inter-municipal bus of the Omega company, which was destined for Barrancabermeja after leaving Medellín.
This public service vehicle collided with the cargo vehicle around 5:20 am this Thursday, in the sector known as Aguas Claras, in the jurisdiction of Cimitarra. “We had a sinister crash-type road,” Mosquera said.
This fact led to the death of both drivers and one of the bus passengers. In addition, six people were referred to the Puerto Berrío hospital. “These passengers do not register serious injuries, they had slight bruises,” said the uniformed man.
One of the hypotheses that the authorities handle is that the bus invaded the opposite lane when trying to overtake. “Apparently there was a lane invasion by the public service vehicle. Some versions of passengers indicate that the bus was passing at that site. Another factor could be the issue of rain, “said Mosquera.
Approximately two kilometers ahead of the point of the tragedy, this morning there was also another accident that involved a bus from Copetrán. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
