Bogotá will have new rules for the celebration of Christmas and the end of the year. This was announced by Mayor Claudia López with a quite popular measure this Tuesday: the restriction of the sale and consumption of alcohol in public spaces.
“If people relax with biosecurity measures in their right mind, imagine ingesting alcohol. By consuming liquor, he takes off his mask, loses his care … and we can have problems due to road accidents or fights. We ask that you be the ones to protect yourself at home, and have all the self-care measures, “said the president.

From when to when does it apply?
The restriction on intoxicating drinks will begin this December 23 at 00:00 and will end on December 27 at 11:59 pm
In addition, there will also be a restriction between December 30 at 00:00 and until January 03 at 11:59 pm
Can I consume liquor in restaurants?
No. As of December 23, the sale and consumption of liquor as an accompaniment to meals in restaurants and gastrobars in Bogotá is restricted. It will not be allowed at any time.
Can I buy liquor at the supermarket or local store?
No. The restriction applies to the sale and sale of liquor in all establishments as of December 23
Refrain from trying to skip the measure by buying from unauthorized places, as you risk buying adulterated liquor.
Can I consume liquor in public spaces with my neighbors and family?

Can I have the party inside my house?
No. The invitation from the Mayor’s Office is to hold meetings of less than 10 people, from the same circle as family, and in moderation.

We highly recommend that for that dinner that you have planned, the youngest do a voluntary isolation,” explained the mayor and recalled that there must be special care in case in the meeting has a population vulnerable to covid-19: people over 60 and people with diabetes, obesity or heart disease.
Even inside the house, you should wear the mask permanently, wash your hands constantly and keep a minimum distance of two meters between each person.

Can I order liquor at home?
As of December 23, you cannot order alcoholic beverages at home, neither in stores nor through electronic platforms.

Why the measure?
The fact of lowering the mask to drink constantly – or stop using it throughout the night – in a closed, crowded and poorly ventilated space constitutes a high risk of contagion of covid-19.
In addition, excess alcohol, combined with car keys in hand, can lead to traffic accidents. And, combined with intolerance, it can lead to squabbles and coexistence problems.
