The case of Brittany Smith, the woman who killed her alleged rapist, had an unexpected outcome this week, after the woman pleaded guilty and received a 20-year sentence.
But to understand the background of this decision, we must go back to January 2018, when Smith shot a man, identified as Todd, at who hours before had accused, before a gas station operator, of having sexually abused her.
He did, he said, so that if they found her dead they would know it was him.

At the time, all those details were reported by ‘Al’, the American media from Alabama, where the event occurred.
But in an unexpected turn of events, that same day the police found Todd dead in the house of the woman, who was arrested at the scene, added ‘Al’.
The 32-year-old woman testified that after telling her brother about the harassment she was subjected to by Todd, his family member went to confront the alleged abuser.

Upon hearing the conviction, Brittany’s mother expressed that her ‘baby did not deserve that’
Thus, the woman was sentenced to a sentence of 20 years, of which, initially, she would only have to pay 18 months in county jail, another 18 on house arrest and 18 and a half on probation, to later determine if the rest of the sentence is effective.
In exclusive statements to ‘AI’, Brittany’s relatives regretted the conviction. “My baby doesn’t deserve this“said his mother. (In other news: A former police officer accused of murder is arrested in Spain).
