The Guajiro meteorologist José Radith Zúñiga reported that a tropical cyclone formed north of La Guajira and it is tropical depression # 31 with sustained winds of 56 km / h.

Ideam for its part is in La Guajira monitoring this climatic phenomenon and has recommended to the National Risk Management System to maintain and reinforce the measures regarding the increase in the height of the waves in the region.

The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) explained that these days will be very conducive to the development of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of wind.

The NHC forecasts the depression to strengthen into a tropical storm, which would be called Iota, this Friday and continue to grow in intensity during the weekend until it becomes a major hurricane.

Until next Wednesday sIt is expected to produce rain in northern Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica, Jamaica and southern Haiti.
