The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation summoned the District Mayor of Cartagena, Bolívar, William Jorge Dau Chamat (2020-2023), to a disciplinary trial for alleged violation of the duty to treat other public officials with respect, impartiality and fairness.
The control body reproached the president for allegedly referring in disobedient and disrespectful terms towards the directors of the University of Cartagena, in statements made to the media on July 31, 2020.
Apparently, the mayor may have used expressions such as “rat’s nest”, “corrupt” and “miscreants” to refer to the servers, which would have affected their dignity and moral integrity, and violated the provisions of paragraph 6 of article 34 of Law 734 of 2002, “(…) treat with respect, impartiality and fairness the people with whom they have a relationship by reason of the service.”
The control entity questioned Dau Chamat about a possible violation of the mandatory standards, presumably not adhering to an act aimed at respecting and safeguarding human dignity.
The alleged offense was provisionally classified as serious by way of fraud.
