Rodrigo Londoño ‘Timochenko’, political leader of the Farc, responded to the column of former vice president Germán Vargas Lleras, in which he accepts the request for forgiveness from the members of the ex-guerrilla for the two attacks against him, which occurred in 2002 and 2005, respectively.

“Following your request, once summoned by the JEP, we will be ready to deliver all the details we have in relation to the attacks of which you were a victim”, Londoño affirms in the letter that he uploaded to his social networks.
Vargas Lleras, in the column published last Sunday in EL TIEMPO, forgave the FARC for the attempts on his life, in one of which he lost some fingers of his left hand. In addition, he asked the organization to reveal the whole truth about the attacks.

In the column, the former vice president pointed out that “the recognition that the FARC makes of these events and of its responsibility in them almost 20 years later is extremely relevant and very enlightening. I hope that in my case and in the others all the details can be known in depth. How each attack was decided, planned and executed”.
“It is enough for me with the truth and the non-repetition to which its authors have committed. I do not hold old grudges, or hatred or vengeful spirit towards anyone. I think that, like me, our country all wants to turn the tragic page of violence And we are not going to achieve it except by forgiving and, hand in hand with that forgiveness, giving us new opportunities for the future “, emphasizes Vargas Lleras in one of the sections of his column.
And he ended it with the following lines: Unlike those who did die and cannot answer today, in my personal case I accept the forgiveness that is offered to me. I don’t even claim a token act for the effect. It is enough for me to know the whole truth.
