The National Tax and Customs Directorate (Dian) reported that Taxpayers who are in arrears with the payment of their tax obligations may access, until November 30, various benefits to catch up on your taxes.
People will be able to save money on paying interest, explains the entity that the temporary moratorium rate for the payment of obligations is more convenient for the taxpayer, since it will be based on the current bank interest rate for the modality of consumer and ordinary loans.
For the economic activities affected by the health emergency, such as: air transport companies, hotels, and taxpayers who have income from theater activities and live musical shows, a special treatment is established.

“A special treatment is given with a default interest rate settled at a daily interest rate, equivalent to 50% of the current bank interest rate for consumer and ordinary loans, certified by the Financial Superintendency of Colombia, at the time of payment, ”states the regulations.
Figures from the Dian indicate that, between January and September of this year, 1,176 taxpayers have been granted a payment facility and likewise, that between May and September 302,519 taxpayers have taken advantage of the benefit of the default interest rate and have caught up with their obligations.
Similarly, The entity authorized 2,369 requests for abbreviated payment facilities for more than 368 billion pesos, to taxpayers who filed their tax returns between April and July 2020.

“The entity has arranged its different service channels for taxpayers to obtain guidance in this regard and they can access the aforementioned benefits, ”says the collecting body.
Between November 17 and 30, Dian officials will hold virtual attention sessions via email or by phone, so that citizens can make a payment agreement or so that they can catch up with their obligations immediately.
