Deportes Tolima went to Manuel Murillo Toro in search of recovering the leadership of the BetPlay League and he achieved it thanks to the victory this Saturday, 2-0 over Boyacá Chicó, in the duel corresponding to date 18 of the Colombian championship.

The Ibagué native team started the first half with a good inside game, in which Daniel Cataño and Jaminton Campaz began to take center stage to create the first goal options.

Precisely, in the 13th minute, thanks to a good qualification from Campaz, the posh box had its first opportunity to open the scoring. The young creative assisted Francisco Rodríguez, who at speed finished off the goal, but met Rogerio Caicedo, goalkeeper for Chicó, who in a great way sent the ball to the corner kick.

In the 27th minute, after the match was resumed after a small failure in the lighting of the Stadium, the Tolima team warned again, and with Juan Pablo Nieto firing from outside the area, he set off the alarms in Boyacá Chicó, which, in the first 30 minutes, he decided to wait for the attack of the rival team.

However, the chess team also had options to go up on the scoreboard. The clearest of those led by Bélmer Aguilar was at the end of the first half, after Diego Echeverri finished off with a header in the area, after a great assist from Delvin Alfonzo. Álvaro Montero was firm, and sent the ball to the corner kick. Goalless, the first half ended.

In the second half, Vinotino y Oro continued with the initiative and in the first minutes had two opportunities to break zero on the board. In minute 52, Campaz, one of the players who insisted the most in the game, took a left-footed shot from outside the area, which passed close to the left post of the visiting goalkeeper.

Minutes later, Francisco was close to scoring the first goal for Hernán Torres’ team. The Costa Rican striker made an individual play inside the area, which ended with a strong shot with his right leg that went over the top post of the goal defended by Caicedo.

Boyacá Chicó reacted and with Mateo Palacios, from a free kick, returned to approach the goal defended by Montero. The shot from the right side was slightly deflected by the stick of the posh goalkeeper’s left hand.

Finally, after so much insistence, in minute 78 Deportes Tolima managed to break zero on the scoreboard. Carlos Robles received a great cross from the right side, and headed to save the ball to the back of the net. The assistance was given by Nilson Castrillón.

Tolima, with the victory in his hands, went from dominating to suffering the game, after Anderson Angulo, central defender, saw the red card at minute 83, after an attack without the ball on a Boyacá Chicó player.

Despite having one man less, and with Chicó played in attack, Ibagué’s team increased the advantage on the board at minute 89, thanks to a counterattack play that Anderson Plata commanded at speed, to later assist Jaminton Campaz, who after being hand in hand with the goalkeeper, he stung the ball before the bilge in order to sentence the score.

With the victory at home, Deportes Tolima regained the leadership of the BetPlay League, and with 37 points it is at the top of the table. Chicó, for his part, does not raise his head, and continues in the last places of the general.
