The new tool allows that if a user does not open a WhatsApp chat for seven days, the message will disappear. However, the preview of the text could still show in notifications until WhatsApp is opened, the Facebook-owned platform explained on its official blog.
How to activate new temporary messages on Android and iPhone?
The application explained that to send the messages that disappear in WhatsApp you have to activate the function. Once activated, new messages sent in chat will disappear after seven days.
“The most recent selection will affect all messages in the chat. The messages sent or received before the activation of the temporary messages will not undergo any change ”, detailed WhatsApp.
To activate them, you must follow the following process:
- Open the WhatsApp chat.
- Touch the contact’s name.
- Touch Temporary messages.
- If prompted, tap Continue.
- Choose Activated.
How to activate new temporary messages in groups?
If you are the person who manages the group, you can activate the temporary messages in the group chat. Once activated, chat messages will disappear after seven days.
This process should be followed:
- Open the WhatsApp group chat.
- Touch the group name.
- Play Temporary messages.
- If prompted, tap CONTINUE.
- To select Activated.
