Another peace signer assassinated in Buga, Valle del Cauca

The Valle Police confirmed that around noon, this Wednesday, November 4, Jainer Córdoba Paz, 38 years old, a former FARC combatant and peace signer, and his partner, Katherine Álvarez Trujillo, 30 years old, were murdered. old.

The events occurred exactly on Carrera 5 with Calle 22, in the middle of a public thoroughfare in Buga.

According to witnesses, both were walking when they were approached by two people who were mobilizing on a motorcycle and, without a word, they were shot. They later fled the scene.

Faced with this crime, the authorities indicated that an exhaustive investigation was initiated to clarify the facts, in addition, they verify the security cameras of the sector.

They also collect testimonies from witnesses and carry out the corresponding investigations to determine who was responsible.

Through a statement, the Farc Party rejected the crime of the demobilized and indicated that with this, 237 of the signatories of the peace agreement have been assassinated.

The Presidential Advisor for Stabilization and Consolidation, Emilio Archila, today led the face-to-face meeting of the National Government with the delegation of the FARC ex-combatants who marched to Bogotá, and after three hours of work an agreement was reached with his spokesmen, with whom he set a work agenda.

Archila highlighted that all substantial points were addressed with a dynamic that will allow noticeable progress and stressed that the FARC delegates recognized President Iván Duque’s willingness to meet with the ex-combatants.

The delegates defined what topics they would like, in any case, to present to the president.

Archila reiterated that the express will of President Duque is to fully support, with priority in security, those who gave the step to legality, and that is why he led this meeting to listen to the ex-combatants and address all their concerns and proposals.

Archila also asked that the results published by the Ministry be reviewed in detail, not only in terms of reincorporation, but on all fronts of what is done to implement the Final Agreement, and mentioned that the president, in his four visits to the Old Territorial Reincorporation and Training Spaces (AETCR) he has insisted that he is not going to destroy the agreements, and ratified that he is “the president of all Colombians.”

“We are excited and we are going to territorialize the issues to continue advancing,” emphasized the counselor. In addition, he mentioned that the president has always had the best disposition to serve ex-combatants.

Pastor Alape, CNR Farc spokesperson, said that it was an encouraging meeting and ratified the full willingness of the ex-combatants to continue on the path of peace building.

The FARC spokesmen insisted before the Government on the urgent need to strengthen security measures throughout the country and advance on land issues, which they consider essential to make the reincorporation process more dynamic.

Former combatant Abelardo Caicedo was emphatic in stating that the ex-combatants’ commitment to peace is real and added that “here what must be torn to shreds is the discourse of the dissidents.”

In the document signed between the National Government and the Farc Party, according to information from the Presidential Council for Stabilization and Normalization, the following commitments were reflected:

– Acknowledging the president’s willingness to meet with the ex-combatants. The FARC propose to advance a space with the Head of State to discuss security issues, land, non-violence against the signatories, the National Reincorporation System and compliance with the agreement.

– Extended sessions of the National Reincorporation Council.

– Timelines for access to housing and land strategy.

– Evaluate the figure of the Blue Carp.

– Continue with the implementation of Departmental and Municipal Peace Councils.

– Security schemes for the 2022 elections as was done in 2019.

– The leaders will reinforce, for their knowledge and discussion, the disclosure of the weekly and monthly advances of the Peace with Legality policy.

– Retransmission of Colombia 2035 (accountability with a view to the country in 15 years), in the old ETCR and in the Peace Stations will be sought.
