On Halloween weekend, a video went viral on social networks that showed how a high-end vehicle ran over a motorcyclist at the traffic light of Carrera 15 with 82nd Street, in the north of Bogotá, and continued on his way. Mauricio Pava Linares, the driver’s lawyer, He explained that he had already presented himself to the Prosecutor’s Office to give his statement about what happened the night of October 31.
According to the attorney, his client, who was driving the 2017 Ford Mustang that appears in the video, ran over the motorcyclist, without assisting him, because he was fleeing a charter attempt, he assured the newspaper El Tiempo.
In the town of Chapinero, Pava Linares said, the driver of the vehicle received money from a friend and then entered a commercial establishment to have a drink with his girlfriend. After leaving the site, he realized that two people on motorcycles were following him, which is why he fled.
“If the gentlemen of the motorcycle had reached him, today the news would be different. That my client would be killed by the action of the freight forwarders “, explained the lawyer to El Tiempo.
To attest that the driver of the red Mustang was fleeing from freight forwarders on a motorcycle, his defender assured that they are requesting the records of the security cameras of Carrera 15 from residents of the sector and the authorities. He also indicated that they will answer for the damages caused to the motorcyclist Jhonatan Rocuts, who formally filed the complaint.
At this time, according to Pava Linares, they are awaiting the opinion of Legal Medicine on the severity of the motorcyclist’s injuries, which, apparently, would be to the skull and hip.
The lawyer also stated that he is concerned about the threats that his client has received from motorcycle groups.
The vehicle was found in the town of Suba
The red vehicle, recorded in the video that circulated in the media and social networks, was found by members of the Police in the vicinity of a residential complex on 158th Street with 58th Street, Suba, on Tuesday, November 3.
The authorities reported that the vehicle was waiting for a tow truck sent by the insurer. They also reported that, at the time they reached the Colina Campestre neighborhood, where the vehicle was located, it did not have license plates.
General Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez, Director of the Traffic and Transportation Police, assured: “It is possible to show that the vehicle does not carry any kind of license plates, in the same way the tapes that fully identified it were removed.”
