Hurricane Eta, which reached category 4 this Tuesday, is moving at an approximate speed of 3 to 4 knots, that is, 5 to 7 km / h, heading west, which continues to generate heavy rainfall with electrical activity over the western sea Caribbean.

Eta has sustained winds of 125 knots, equal to 225 km / h and mainly affects the coasts of Nicaragua, according to the most recent report from the Center for Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research (CIOH).

“Taking into account the current state of the system, a swell effect is occurring for the islands of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina with wave heights of 1.0 to 1.5 meters and prevailing southbound winds with intensities 22 to 30 knots, equal to 40 and 54 km / h ”, reported the CIOH.

The entity foresees moderate rains in Cartagena and an increase in the tide, which is why it recommends that the communities and the maritime union take extreme security measures in the development of nautical activities.

Likewise, keep all vessels away from the cone of incidence of the hurricane.

For its part, Ideam invites to maintain alerts in the continental area as well as to reinforce prevention measures for both the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) and the municipal councils of the Caribbean region.
