This Tuesday the communities of Nuevo Jerusalem, in the municipality of Bello, were surprised by a strong operation that counted on the presence of Esmad men to advance an eviction order in the area.
Inhabitants of the Girasol-Los Pinos sector of this town in the north of the Aburrá Valley registered how a group of trucks mobilized a strong ring of Esmad police and public officials to advance the eviction.
Despite the smooth progress of the operation, after noon it was reported that while the members of Esmad went up to the area to be evicted, several people apparently took what they had at hand and threw them at the uniformed men.
According to preliminary information, these operations are being carried out to evict a private area that would have been illegally occupied and parceled out by people, but human rights defenders have criticized that the eviction was carried out in the midst of a pandemic.
The images of the event showed how the soldiers had to protect themselves from the stones apparently thrown by the community that would refuse to leave these settlements in Bello.
