Raid against the homicide leaves 53 captured in Valle del Cauca – Investigation – Justice

From the base of the National Navy located in Bahía Málaga, Attorney General Francisco Barbosa delivered results on the investigation of homicides in Valle de Cauca.

He pointed out that a month ago in Buga he announced a comprehensive intervention plan in Buenaventura and Tuluá. “Today I want to announce (…) that we have two important news for the country. We have intervened the port of Buenaventura with 37 captures, with that we clarify 19 homicides in communes 11 and 12“, highlighted the Prosecutor.

According to Barbosa in those communes alias Julito and alias Diego Optra commit crimes, and he pointed out that the message for the Buenaventura community is one, “these criminals are not going to hit the port anymore“.

In addition to the homicides, the arrests in Buenaventura clarified two collective forced displacements of 452 families made up of 1,634 inhabitants, from the Nuevo Amanecer, Caldas, El Progreso, Unión de Vivienda and Carlos Holmes Trujillo neighborhoods of Commune 12, perpetrated through a armed incursion called La Purga, between November 14 and 16, 2018.

Importance of the capture of ‘julio’ and ‘Diego Optra’

According to the investigation carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal activity of alias Julito would have started 10 years ago, presumably in drug trafficking and extortion in Buenaventura.

They established that alias Diego Optra would be an emblematic figure in the drug trafficking phenomenon in the Valley, especially in that Pacific port, and there is evidence that he would be involved in the illicit business for more than 15 years.

Several of his relatives were even extradited and he would have assumed command and control of drug trafficking in the region“reads a statement from the Attorney General’s Office.

Since 2018, a territorial dispute has been unleashed between the groups of these men, for control of the main communes of the municipality to obtain the monopoly of drug trafficking.

Regarding the operations carried out in Buga, he pointed out that two structures were affected: ‘Los M’ and ‘Los Cawa’, achieving the capture of its 16 members, “with which 15 homicides are clarified “, highlighted the Prosecutor.

In total, said the head of the accusing body, 35 homicides were clarified in a month, a fact that he described as “an unprecedented case.”

The sectors affected by these criminal networks were the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, El Jardín, Divino Niño, Alto Bonito, Carrilera sector and Uninorte Blocks, Buga (Valle del Cauca). There they were dedicated to drug trafficking, extortion and the commission of selective homicides.

He indicated that he is in Bahía Málaga with Deputy Prosecutor Martha Mancera, “and her team to meet with the authorities of the National Navy and plan a comprehensive intervention strategy throughout the Colombian Pacific“.

This intervention covers the area of ​​Nariño, Cauca, Chocó and Valle del Cauca with the aim of working together to hit the structures dedicated to drug trafficking in the region.
