On the morning of Saturday, October 31, the caravan of FARC ex-combatants arrived, coming from the Mesetas municipality, Meta department, with around 250 ex-combatants to the country’s capital.

The purpose of the caravan is to seek a dialogue with the Government to ask for greater protection from the ex-combatants, since they indicate that they are being killed and threatened. According to official figures, 236 former combatants have been killed after the signing of the Final Agreement on December 16, 2016.

For his part, the political scientist Álvaro Villarraga Sarmiento, said in this regard: “In rejection of the murder of former FARC combatants who signed the Peace Agreement without the Govt. Duque do what is necessary to prevent it, thousands of them traveled the country to demand guarantees in the Plaza de Bolívar in Bgta. He also shared a video of the protest by ex-combatants in the Plaza de Bolívar.

Upon their arrival in the capital, the ex-combatants went to the headquarters of the District University in the Macarena neighborhood, where they spent the night, on Sunday afternoon they continued their journey to the Plaza de Bolívar.

Also, today, Sunday, November 1, the caravan from the Caribbean and northwest of the country arrived in the morning to the National Park to head towards the center of the capital and join the other ex-combatants.

The congressmen of the Farc party welcomed the also signatories of the peace agreement in Havana.

“We give the most cordial and fraternal welcome to the first group of pilgrims already in Bogotá. We salute this great show of resistance and together we will demand that they stop the murders against those of us who bet on peace, “wrote Farc Senator Griselda Lobo.

In a symbolic act in the middle of the pilgrimage, on Thursday Pastor Alape apologized to the victims and the population of Pipiral, Meta, for the miraculous fishing, the kidnappings and the suffering they caused.

“We reiterate our commitment to the victims, the truth and national reconciliation,” he said in his speech.

Finally, in an interview with HispanTV, the senator of that party, Victoria Sandino, addressed the issue emphasizing that the South American country “is going through a humanitarian crisis in terms of human rights.”

“To the current Government of Colombia […] It is not interested in the peace agreement, it is not committed to complying with the peace agreement, on the contrary, it fuels war, conflict and hatred, ”denounced the senator, underlining that, for this reason, this social crisis has not yet ended. .
