Junior obtained a new triumph in the League that allows him to get into the group of the best eight in Colombian soccer. During their visit to Cúcuta, the Barranquilla team won 1-4 on date 17 of the BetPlay League.
Neither Miguel Borja nor Teófilo Gutiérrez were the starters in this game, but the Barranquilla forward wanted to scare Carmelo Valencia and Michael Rangel.
At 17 minutes came the first goal of the match. Sebastián Viera took from his bow and put it between the defenders and the goalkeeper. Carmelo Valencia arrived at that place with great speed to first grab the ball and send it over goalkeeper Juan Camilo Chaverra.
That goal shook the Motilones, who play in Quindío. At 24 minutes, Ronaldo Ariza inserted himself on the left and sent a ball into the small area, where Michell Ramos was to just push it.
Junior was more protagonist of the meeting than those of Cúcuta. On the left there was a lot of depth with Gabriel Fuentes and Freddy Hinestroza, but the rojinegros were closing that space little by little.
Despite this, collective football generated the clearest action for Junior. Rangel served as a pivot and the ball went through several players until Carmelo Valencia brought it down again in the area for Rangel to finish off, but the ball went very high.
Cúcuta did not have much offensive power and was increasingly away from the goal that Viera defended. With the tie to a goal they went to rest.
For the complementary part, Cúcuta changed Ramos for Vuletich’s entry, but the Argentine forward never got the ball clearly.
In fact the clearest at the start of the game was for Junior. With a header from Michael Rangel, the ball shook one of the posts.
But the game fell apart in the 58th minute when Hanyer Mosquera saw the second yellow card of the game and went to the showers early. Cúcuta was left with 10 players.
Luis Amaranto Perea wanted to take advantage of that and sent Teófilo Gutiérrez and Edwin Cetré to the field, who would be very important for the final result. Later Borja entered to finish completing the attack.
Well, the changes took effect until minute 84. On the right, Fabián Viáfara sent an aerial ball that reached Sherman and although he finished with power, Chaverra saved very well. But the rebound was there in the area and Cetré only had to push it.
At 88 came 1-3. Didier Moreno sent a great pass for Borja to make a diagonal and finish with great power to beat Chaverra.
And the 4-1 was already sentenced in the time of addition. In a quick counterattack, Cetré showed off his speed and scored the goal that ended the match.
