Deportivo Independiente Medellín – Formas Íntimas defeated Atlético Nacional 1-3, on the third date of group C in the Women’s League. The powerful ones took advantage with goals from Geraldine Cardona, Tatiana Castañeda and Yirleidys Quejada, despite going down on the scoreboard with Estefanía Cartagena’s purslane goal. With an ideal score, the red team is shaping up to advance to the next phase, while Nacional is complicated in the group with two defeats and a victory in third place.
The first 15 minutes, the game turned back and forth, where both teams shared control of the ball and the game was vertical, with speed on the wings and a lot of dynamics. As game time progressed, the visitors took control of the game and with a couple of approaches they approached the opposite goal.
At minute 39 and when the purslanes were more confused, a corner kick led to Estefanía Cartagena’s goal, the local forward took advantage of a distraction from the powerful defense and despite the protest of goalkeeper Sandra Sepúlveda, Atlético Nacional took the lead marker.
After the goal, Independiente Medellín – Formas Íntimas went looking for the equalizer and at minute 44, Geraldine Cardona with a powerful shot from the right foot left Katherine Tapia without reaction, equalizing the score in the Antioqueño classic. On the next date, Atlético Nacional will visit Deportivo Independiente Medellín, next Monday, November 9 from 6 in the afternoon at the Itagüí metropolitan stadium.
