In a statement attributed to ‘Jesús Santrich’, headed with the logos of the Clandestine Communist Party of Colombia and Farc-EP, the ex-guerrilla of the former Farc guerrilla – who is now part of the dissident group of that structure that separated itself from its commitments of the peace agreement and re-armed itself– spoke about the assassination of conservative leader Álvaro Gómez Hurtado.

Almost a month ago, the members of the FARC who remain in the law recognized the participation of the ex-guerrilla in that murder and in other homicides committed between 1987 and 2002.

According to ‘Santrich’, who along with ‘Iván Márquez’ and other former leaders of the former FARC decided to form the dissident group Segunda Marquetalia, “it is not true that the execution of Álvaro Gómez Hurtado was ordered by ‘Mono Jojoy'”.

It also says that It is also not true that the ‘Mono Jojoy’ notified the former FARC Secretariat about this homicide “once the murder was committed”, nor that “a few days later, ‘Manuel Marulanda’ (former FARC chief) directed all of us to remain silent.”

According to ‘Santrich’ that “clumsy tactic of blaming the dead for what happened in a war of more than half a century should be stopped. Let Timochenko not be more rogue and cowardly than he has been.”

‘Jesús Santrich’ also states that Gomez’s murder was decided at a conference and “keeping it a secret was also a collective determination, of leadership, for which the FARC respond as an organization that acted against one of the highest representatives of the terror regime that still reigns in Colombia. ”

In the communiqué he also makes harsh pronouncements against Timochenko – today the head of the Farc political party, which is still in the peace process – and assures that he does not understand what his purpose is to “self-victimize” and allegedly incriminate him, ‘Romaña’, ‘Márquez’ and ‘Paisa’ with a plan to assassinate him.

“We reiterate that this has never been thought of because it is not the way in which we consider our disagreements should be dealt with and because it is also not worth it,” says the communication.

We reiterate that this has never been thought of because it is not the way in which we consider our disagreements should be treated and because it is not worth it.

In the statement they also talk about his distancing from Timochenko, stating that both he and the one they call ‘Timochenkism’ are “a true fiasco that is ashamed and regrettable, and that therefore no other assessment was born and feelings were not even fed to refute them or to confront them in their present of failures or in their future, distanced from the revolutionary vision in which we previously agreed “.

He assures that although in official documents of the Party of the Rose, which is that of the Farc, and from other parties and political sectors it is considered that his decision to return to arms “is an adventure and irresponsibility”, according to ‘Santrich’ they are not going to “discuss that to the shots. For this reason, he affirms, the attack that the authorities spoke of against Timochenko, “as far as we know, was a false positive, with which we had absolutely nothing to do with it.”

And add: “To Timochenko, nobody in the Farc-EP Segunda Marquetalia has wanted or wants to kill him.”
