In the call they held for around ten minutes, the President also expressed his concern about what happened, and told him that he gave instructions to the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo; the Commander General of the Military Forces, Luis Fernando Navarro Jiménez; the commander of the National Army, Eduardo Enrique Zapateiro and the National Director of the Police, Óscar Atehortúa, for taking charge of the situation. Navarro confirmed that the army commander in Cauca is traveling to the area to assess the situation.
The Interior Minister also rejected the incident and warned that he was offered to be evacuated from the area by helicopter “but assured that it is not necessary.”

“The rural area in which Senator Valencia is located is very complex. There the dissident of the Farc Dagoberto Ramos commits a crime. We are in contact with the governor of Cauca, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Dijin Elite Body that they initiate the investigations of the case “, indicated the minister of the Interior.
The association of Indigenous Cabildos del Norte del Cauca -ACIN- warned in a statement that the attack was with shots of rifle against the vehicle in which Senator Feliciano Valencia was traveling. “The truck has three bullet holes in the sides and in the back,” they noted.
