The control body announced that this disciplinary process is related to the order that Bieri gave to remove the program ‘Los puros criollos’ directed by journalists Santiago Rivas from the ‘prime time’ of Signal Colombia, and to stop broadcasting programs of the communicator.

The Prosecutor’s Office points out that the audio that proves the actions of the former RTVC manager, for which the director of Signal Colombia was charged, is not from “private individuals, or even officials, within their private sphere”, but rather It is about a conversation in “an advanced meeting within the strictly labor sphere between four public servants in exercise of their positions and directly and specifically related to the management of a public body.

In this sense, the Public Ministry assures that “the audio recording of what happened in it [la reunión] by one of its participants does not violate the right to privacy of any of those who were part of it“.

He adds that Bieri, today a government official, He would have exceeded his functions as manager of RTCV, an offense “provisionally classified as serious as a very serious fault”, and would have abused his authority when giving the order to exclude ‘Los pure criollos’ from the programming of Canal Colombia.

In addition, “the former manager could have incurred in an alleged configuration of censorship to the detriment of the rights to freedom of expression and opinion of the communicator Santiago Rivas Camargo,” says the Attorney General’s Office.

When this news was known, the journalist Gustavo Gómez, from Caracol Radio, recalled a comment that Rodrigo Uprimny made as a lesson in this case:

“Friend of the president is appointed manager of RTVC, censors a critic of the government and is awarded with advice of 468 million [de pesos], while their complainants are in criminal proceedings promoted by the Barbosa Prosecutor’s Office ”.

The statement from the control body also says that it ordered copies of the Biero case file to be sent to the Attorney General’s Office.
