Accompanied by the governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria, and the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, this Wednesday the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, announced the measures and recommendations for the department and its capital in order to minimize the impacts and have management of the situation of the pandemic by covid-19.

Thus, some measures that had already been announced by the governor and the mayor of Medellín in previous days were modified.

The first thing to know is that the curfew for minors will be continuous from 6:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

For adults, it will already apply in the 125 municipalities of Antioquia, from 10:00 p.m. on Friday to 6:00 a.m. on Saturday and so on for Saturday and Sunday nights.

It should be remembered that in the first instance specific hours had been announced for the curfew each day of the weekend, which is abolished.

These measures now apply throughout the department, including Medellín and the other nine municipalities in the Aburrá valley. Also to the Urabá subregion, where previously only the curfew for minors had been announced.

As for Girardota, the governor explained that this municipality must comply with the same regulations, because this measure, when taken in partial order, generates mobility and with it disorder and infections.

That is why the Government will issue a departmental decree that includes all municipalities with the same measures.

The recommendation is to the Antioquia population to take care of ourselves, be supportive and strict in self-care measures

It should be remembered that the Prohibition Law will take effect from this Friday at 6 in the afternoon until midnight on Monday.

“As has happened in other cities, these measures to be applicable
in all departments must be collected from the Advisory Committee of the
Minsalud and later in a decree of the Ministry of Health “, explained Ruiz Gómez.

Meanwhile, the application of these measures and the results achieved will be analyzed by the three governments next week to see if other measures will have to be taken in the future. or a greater flattening of that plateau can be identified that presents the behavior of the disease, concluded the president Gaviria Correa.

Take care of yourself, says Daniel Quintero

Daniel Quintero, Mayor of Medellín, highlighted the importance of the measures taken and reiterated his interest in accompanying the Government in expanding the number of ICU beds.

Quintero asks people who live with adults to take care of them. That if they were in social gatherings or sporting events, they recognize that they have a greater risk and that they can affect them.

In addition, the president called attention to the good behavior of citizens so that they observe self-care, because the intensive care beds for other non-covid health events present a high occupancy due to issues such as the damming of scheduled operations, therefore the Government announced measures to reorder these surgeries.
