María Fernanda Cabal responds to the controversial trill of the US ambassador.

The Senator of the Democratic Center, María Fernanda Cabal, was surprised by the accusations she has received from the United States for, supposedly, “misinforming American voters.”

The criticism was led by Gregory Meeks and Rubén Gallego, representatives of New York and Arizona for the Democratic Party, who published a column on CNN asking figures from the Democratic Center “not to take sides in the presidential elections.”

That comment was followed by a tweet from United States Ambassador to Colombia, Philip S. Goldberg, who used the official embassy account to urge “Colombian politicians to avoid getting involved in the elections.”

In the trill, the diplomat did not mention anyone specifically, but noted that “the success of relations between the US and Colombia over many years it has been based on bipartisan support”.

At these comments, Senator Cabal declared her surprise and said that did not understand “the fear that has been raised in the Democratic activists and senators before we have an opinion ”.

He also called Ambassador Goldberg’s message “unfortunate” and noted that, “According to the first amendment to the Constitution of the United States, they are restricting freedom of expression.”

The congresswoman clarified, in an interview with the Blu Radio station, that has not participated in any meetings in support of President Donald Trump’s campaign and explained that “the only (person) who has been really an activist, due to his dual nationality, is Juan David Vélez”, representative to the Chamber for the Democratic Center.
