The Canadian cyclist Michael Woods (Education First) has won the seventh stage of the 75th edition of the Vuelta a Espaa, a day of mountainous profile and 159.7 kilometers held this Tuesday between the city of Vitoria and the Alava town of Villanueva of Valdegova.
With a time of 3 hours, 48 minutes and 16 seconds, Woods won the arrival at Villanueva de Valdegova ahead of the Spaniards Omar Fraile (Astana) and Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), second and third respectively.
The first three of the stage came from a quintet that managed to reach the finish line outstanding and in which were also the French Nans Peters (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Guillaume Martin (Cofidis).
The Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadier), who donned the leader’s red jersey in the sixth stage, ending in Formigal, remained at the head of the individual general classification of the Spanish round.
The Vuelta a Espaa will continue this Wednesday with the dispute of its eighth stage, of 164 kilometers, starting in the city of Logroo and finishing in the Alto de Moncalvillo, of the first category.
