This Thursday, members of the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office occupied the La Veranera farm, which belongs to the ex-wife of Juan Guillermo Monsalve, the main witness against former president Álvaro Uribe in the process for alleged bribery of witnesses.
Although it does not legally appear in the name of Monsalve, according to the Prosecutor’s Office “the ownership of the property would be in the head of relatives of the accused, in order, presumably, to evade the action of the administration of justice.” The farm, located in the municipality of Apía, in Risaralda, is valued at 560 million pesos.
Within the framework of the investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office determined that, according to the financial profile, Monsalve Pineda and the owners did not have the legal economic capacity to acquire ownership of an asset that, at the time of the apparent negotiation, that is, in the year 2016, it was valued at $ 454’090,783, so its increase in assets would only be understood to be justified, apparently, by criminal activities, either prior to or concomitant detention.

Monsalve has been deprived of liberty in a prison since 2008, serving a conviction for the crimes of kidnapping, extortion, conspiracy to commit a crime and illegal possession of weapons.
“In that sense, for the process of extinction of the right of ownership, the Prosecutor’s Office imposed precautionary measures of suspension of power, device, embargo and kidnapping on the La Veranera farm,” stated the accusing entity.
