MinHacienda: «need to raise 153 billion pesos in 2021»

Finance Minister Alberto Carrasquilla said that the country faces a serious fiscal challenge.

To collect what the Government requires next year, to cover its needs on average, each household would have to pay more than 10 million pesos in taxes.

During the virtual forum of Asobancaria, the Minister of Finance, Alberto Carrasquilla, uncovered the resource needs facing the country for the coming year.

In his presentation he said that an estimated tax collection is required for the year 2021 of 153 billion pesos.

This would imply an average collection per household for the 2021 of 10.2 million pesos.

The official stated that “That is equivalent to more or less about 10 million pesos per household in Colombia if we average the collection and divide by the number of households, that gives us about 10 million pesos per household”.

The destination of the collection for the coming year is focused on the following commitments:

  • Transfers to the regions $ 47.7 billion
  • Pension payment $ 42.5 billion
  • Doubt interest $ 33.3 billion

According to the accounts of the Ministry of Finance, next year there would be barely 29 billion pesos left for the operation of the State.
