Gustavo Bolívar’s failed attempt to find Petro allies

Gustavo Bolívar has been Gustavo Petro’s emissary to get allies for the 2022 presidential elections. Although Petro already has the endorsement of the Patriotic Union, he was hoping to point him to an inter-party consultation with candidates from other parties. One of these was the green senator Iván Marulanda, who is close to Bolívar from the First Committee of Congress. At first it seemed that it had given results but in the end Marulanda backed down and denied any intention of allying with the political head of Colombia Humana.

Now Gustavo Bolívar has his eyes set on bringing the Polo Democrático sector closer, led by Alexander López Maya, who has been open to a coalition with Gustavo Petro. An eventual decision that would be made in the middle of the discussion about the split of Jorge Robledo. With this, Petro also hopes to gather other leaderships and center-left political movements that support his campaign, after the denial of the alliance greens.
