In Ibagué: woman paid to assassinate lender for debt – Other Cities – Colombia

Leydi Katherine Celemín Cardozo was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison on Wednesday, who paid a hit man to carry out the order to murder a citizen who had given him 85 million pesos for a taxi.

The citizen is dedicated to lending money, for which he was the victim of two attacks and in one of them, which occurred on April 27, 2017, he received several gunshot wounds in his body when attacked by a hit man on a street in the Departmental neighborhood of Ibagué, where he arrived in his car to meet Leydi Katherine Celemín.

Wounded, the moneylender was taken that day to the Federico Lleras hospital in Ibagué, where the doctors managed to save his life.

After the attack, the police followed in the footsteps of Leydi Katherine, who was finally captured to answer for this case.

After 3 years of investigation, the woman was convicted in the first instance by a court as co-perpetrator of the crime of attempted aggravated homicide and, after the Appeal presented by his defense, the Superior Court of Ibagué confirmed in second instance the sentence to 16 years and 8 months in prison as co-author of attempted aggravated homicide.

A prosecutor from the specialized department against criminal organizations, in charge of leading the investigation, proved the woman’s guilt in the April 2017 attack.

“It was evidenced that they tried to assassinate the lender so as not to cancel 80 million pesos, money that this man had given to Leydi Katherine to obtain a place in a taxi and for which they never responded,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.

In this case, enough evidence was collected to reveal that Celemín Cardozo summoned the victim in front of the departmental neighborhood park where he was waiting the hitman alias ‘Vale’ (who is deprived of liberty).

Alias ​​’Vale’, together with another man, fired his firearm at the moneylender, leaving him wounded and finally the doctors saved his life.
