The country has experienced a violent Tuesday with the bullet-killing of three social leaders of opposition to the National Government: two members of Human Colombia and an indigenous leader. The victims were attacked in Córdoba, Huila and Cauca, which paints a disturbing national panorama.

An indigenous leader of the Emberá Katío people was shot dead this Tuesday morning in the Juan José township in the municipality of Puerto Libertador in Córdoba. He is Aurelio Jumí Domicó, former governor and Emberá Katío indigenous leader.

Meanwhile, in the south of the country the crimes of the members of Colombia Humana, the movement led by Gustavo Petro, occurred.

The first case is that of Eduardo Alarcón Córdoba, who was murdered in Campoalegre, Huila. Alarcón was a social and agrarian leader who was active in that community.

The other event occurred hours later. It is about the lawyer and leader Gustavo Herrera, a recognized member of Colombia Humana, who was attacked with shots when he was going to his workplace in Popayan.

According to information provided by Herrera’s relatives, the events occurred around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

In the village of La Cabrera, on the road that leads from Popayán to Coconuco, Puracé, armed men shot him four times with a firearm. The political leader was transferred to the La Estancia clinic in the Cauca capital, but he did not survive.

Herrera was a member of the Colombia Humana movement and was the manager of the presidential campaign by Gustavo Petro in Cauca.

The facts of blood produced a wave of repudiation that has been growing. Among all the voices there is a coincidence that the country cannot live a dirty war again in which a black hand silences those who have a different ideology.

“Total rejection of the barbarism of violence in politics” Sergio Fajardo wrote. “Condolences and solidarity with the family of Colombia Humana for the murder of its leaders. The murderers want to start another chapter of violence in Colombia, “added the leader who has frank differences with Petro.

For his part, Humberto de la Calle, who achieved the disarmament of the Farc with the Peace Accords, said: “Now leaders of Colombia Humana are assassinated. What was missing. It could be the announcement of a wave of violence superimposed on the attacks on leaders and former combatants. “

For this liberal leader, former vice president of the Republic and former presidential candidate, enough must be said: “No to the mixture of violence and politics.”

The leader of the Patriotic Union, UP, a party that has already decided that Petro is its candidate for the presidential elections in 2022, said: “Stop murdering. They shot Gustavo Herrera, manager of G. Petro’s campaign and a member of Colombia Humana.

While Jorge Rojas Rodríguez pointed out: “They have just killed Gustavo Herrera, spokesperson for Colombia Humana in Popayán (Cauca). They gave the order to assassinate indigenous people, peasants and leaders of the opposition. Infamous. There are no words to condemn so much death. “

For his part, the former liberal minister Juan Fernando Cristo said: “I condemn the murders of the leaders of Colombia Humana, Eduardo Alarcón and Gustavo Herrera. They cannot remain in impunity. All my solidarity with their families and their party. We cannot get used to politically motivated crimes returning to the country ”.

And the journalist Angela Patricia Janiot, who on occasions has had a public difference with Petro, exclaimed: “They assassinate two leaders of Colombia Humana in less than 24 hours: former councilman Eduardo Alarcón in #Huila, and Gustavo Herrera, manager of the presidential campaign in the #Cauca. The State has the duty to stop this senseless violence that bleeds our #Colombia “”.
