Government sources confirmed to EL TIEMPO that Víctor Maldonado, one of the brains of the disaster of more than 320,000 million pesos of the Premium Fund of the commission agent Interbolsa, he renounced his Colombian nationality.

According to the source, Maldonado, who is in Spain, began the procedures before the Foreign Ministry, and his attorneys, to avoid appearing as Colombian. Extra officially, the Colombian authorities take it for granted that you have already applied for Spanish nationality.

Maldonado was captured in Spain and extradited to Colombia in November 2015. Due to expiration of terms, he was released in January 2017.

The man, along with Tomás Jaramillo and Juan Carlos Ortiz, is considered the mastermind of one of the largest embezzlements in the country, facing charges for conspiracy to commit a crime, massive collection of money, aggravated fraud and no refund of money.

The so-called embezzlement of Interbolsa has been very controversial due to the actions of justice. In August of this year, the process against Corridori prescribed, as it was decided by Judge 33 of Bogotá.

In November 2013, the Prosecutor’s Office charged the Italian investor, accused of becoming the majority shareholder of Fabricato, after allegedly with money from the commissioner’s clients he acquired the company.

In July of last year, a judge approved a preliminary agreement between the Prosecutor’s Office and Tomas Jaramillo, who accepted the charges of massive and habitual raising of money and not reimbursement.

For this would pay a penalty of 7 years and a month plus 400 million pesos, and in return the prosecuting body will change the typicity of the crime from co-perpetrator to accomplice.
