This Tuesday began the strike of teachers organized by the Colombian Federation of Education Workers (Fecode), Those who entered the cessation of activities for 48 hours, that is, it will extend until this Wednesday, October 21.
Although at first Fecode announced that this Tuesday would be a day mainly of virtual activities such as forums, meetings and talks, the truth is that several unions affiliated with the organization in various parts of the country announced that they will carry out some mobilizations.

It is expected that the mobilizations, mostly cited at 9 am in cities such as Armenia, Medellín, Barranquilla and Bogotá, will not be as massive as those that will take place this Wednesday, when the teachers will take to the streets, this time in the company of other sectors of the National Unemployment Committee, such as workers’ centrals and student organizations.
In the case of Bogotá, the concentrations are called in front of the facilities of the District Secretariat of Education (Calle 26 with Carrera 66), and a mobilization is expected to go to the main headquarters of the Ministry of Education, on Calle 43 with Carrera 57.

For its part, in Armenia a march is planned from the Centenario Stadium to the Plaza de Bolívar in the capital of Quindío. In Pereira a sit-in is planned from 10 am
In Antioquia, the mobilizations will begin in Bello and the municipality of Caldas, both towns in Valle de Aburrá, up to Parque de las Luces, in Medellín.

Nelson Alarcón, president of the federation, pointed out the reasons for the cessation of activities: “This is a strike in defense of life, peace, democracy, due to the demand for compliance with each of the agreements agreed and signed between the Government Nacional and Fecode, and by non-alternation, which threatens the lives of young people, children and the entire academic community ”.
