After traveling around 600 kilometers for five days, Guambianos, Paeces, Totoróes, Nasas, Yanaconas, Coconucos and Ingas, as well as social and peasant organizations and Afro communities, arrived in the capital in the framework of a peaceful protest for life and humanity. peace, territory and democracy.

Since October 6, different sectors of the southwestern part of the country convened a meeting with President Iván Duque, scheduled for October 12, to make political demands on him.

However, the president did not attend the meeting scheduled in Cali, but sent a delegation from the high government to dialogue. After that, the indigenous people decided to start their journey to reach the capital. On the way through the different cities, social and peasant organizations joined, as well as Afro communities, and around 8,000 people arrived in Bogotá.

Government reiterates willingness to define work route with the minga

The Minister of the Interior, Alicia Arango, reiterated the Government’s willingness to define a work route with the minga. “The government’s purpose is to fulfill what it agrees to,” he said. “This government has as a priority that the agreements that are signed are fulfilled. That is why the need to clearly establish what the points of the minga are,” he added.

Indigenous minga march prepares to leave
